Single-Leg Calf Raise — calves isolation exercise in the LIFTAG library

Single-Leg Calf Raise

Isolation · Weight × reps

The single-leg version increases the relative load on the gastrocnemius and soleus and adds foot and ankle balance demands. Training both sides separately can reveal performance differences, but does not automatically correct them. Match technique and volume between legs, begin on flat ground, and stop if the Achilles tendon or forefoot becomes painful.

HOW TO DO SINGLE-LEG CALF RAISE

  1. Stand on one foot with the other clear of the floor and hold a stable support lightly.
  2. Keep the stance knee straight but relaxed, press through the forefoot, and raise the heel without letting the ankle roll inward or outward.
  3. Pause at the top and lower slowly through your controlled range, using a step only when the setup is secure.
