Commando Pull-Up — back compound exercise in the LIFTAG library

Commando Pull-Up

Compound · Weight × reps

The commando pull-up trains the back, elbow flexors, forearms, and grip while the asymmetrical position challenges trunk control. Use a secure bar with adequate headroom, choose a pain-free wrist position, and do not use twisting momentum to finish repetitions.

HOW TO DO COMMANDO PULL-UP

  1. Stand beneath the bar lengthwise and grip it with both hands close together, palms facing one another and one hand in front of the other.
  2. Hang with the torso aligned under the bar, then pull until one shoulder approaches one side of it.
  3. Lower under control and alternate which side passes the bar, as well as which hand is forward between sets.
  4. Keep the hips square and avoid striking the head.
