Chest-to-Bar Pull-Up — back compound exercise in the LIFTAG library

Chest-to-Bar Pull-Up

Compound · Weight × reps

The extra pulling range increases the demand on the back, elbow flexors, grip, and scapular retractors compared with stopping at the chin. Establish strict full-range pull-ups first. Use band assistance if needed, and distinguish this strict version from a deliberately kipping sport-specific chest-to-bar repetition.

HOW TO DO CHEST-TO-BAR PULL-UP

  1. Hang with an overhand grip around shoulder width and begin from a controlled active position.
  2. Pull forcefully while driving the elbows down and back, continuing beyond chin-over-bar height until the upper chest touches or closely approaches the bar.
  3. Keep the ribs and pelvis controlled rather than gaining height through a large swing, then lower smoothly to the hang.
