HOW TO DO ROPE STRAIGHT-ARM PULLDOWN

  1. Attach a rope to the high pulley, step back, and hinge slightly with your arms reaching overhead and elbows softly bent.
  2. Sweep the rope down toward your thighs by moving the shoulders, separating the ends only if the rope clears your body comfortably.
  3. Return slowly to an overhead reach while keeping the trunk braced.
  4. Avoid turning the exercise into a triceps pushdown by repeatedly bending and straightening the elbows, or into a pullover driven by spinal extension.
  5. The rope permits your hands to finish beside the hips; adjust stance and torso angle so that extra path comes from the shoulders rather than a backward lean.
