Front Lever Hold — back exercise in the LIFTAG library

Front Lever Hold

Time

The front lever is an advanced straight-arm isometric skill with a long lever that heavily challenges the latissimus, shoulder extensors, abdominals, grip, and connective tissues. Progress through tuck, advanced-tuck, one-leg, or straddle holds. Earn each lever length gradually and stop when the elbows bend or body line breaks.

HOW TO DO FRONT LEVER HOLD

  1. Hang from a secure bar with an overhand grip and straight elbows.
  2. Depress the shoulders, tilt the pelvis posteriorly, and raise the body until the chest, hips, and legs form a rigid line roughly parallel to the floor, facing upward.
  3. Pull the bar toward the hips without bending the arms, keep the glutes and trunk tight, and avoid sagging or piking.
