Standard Leg Press — quadriceps compound exercise in the LIFTAG library

Standard Leg Press

Compound · Weight × reps

Set the seat so you can place both feet securely on the platform and lower it without your pelvis rolling away from the backrest. Release the safeties, bend your knees and hips under control, then push the platform away through your whole foot. Keep your knees tracking generally with your toes and stop at the deepest position you can own without pain or loss of pelvic control. Do not lock your knees forcefully or let the sled rebound at the bottom. Before the set, learn the machine's safety stops and choose a foot position that suits its geometry and your mobility.

HOW TO DO STANDARD LEG PRESS

  1. Sit so the low back is glued to the pad. Place the feet mid-platform, about shoulder width to start.
  2. Unrack and lower until the thighs are at least parallel to the platform, as far as the hips allow without the pelvis tucking.
  3. Press through the whole foot. Finish without slamming the lockout or bouncing out of the hole.

COMMON MISTAKES

  • Letting the pelvis roll at the bottom. That is lumbar flexion under load. Shorten the range or raise the feet.
  • Tiny range with a huge stack. You are not fooling the log. LIFTAG will store the load; your knees will store the habit.

VARIATIONS

PROGRESSIONS

  1. Full-range light presses.
  2. Add load when the pelvis stays down.
  3. Single-leg when one side always bails first.

PROGRAMMING NOTES
