Wide-Stance Leg Press — glutes compound exercise in the LIFTAG library

Wide-Stance Leg Press

Compound · Weight × reps

The wider stance changes hip position and may increase the contribution of the glutes and adductors, but it does not remove the quadriceps. Avoid forcing an extreme width or allowing the knees to collapse inward.

HOW TO DO WIDE-STANCE LEG PRESS

  1. Place your feet wider than in your usual leg press stance, using a toe angle that lets your knees follow the same general direction.
  2. Lower the sled by bending your hips and knees while keeping your pelvis and back supported, then press through your whole feet.
  3. Adjust stance width and depth to the machine's footplate and your hip mobility, and compare positions with the same controlled technique rather than chasing a particular muscle sensation.
