HOW TO DO PLANK SHOULDER TAP

  1. Hold a high plank with hands under the shoulders and feet set wide enough for balance, then brace the trunk and glutes.
  2. Shift weight smoothly into one hand and tap the opposite shoulder with the free hand.
  3. Replace it quietly and alternate without letting the pelvis rotate, rise, or sag.
  4. The plank shoulder tap challenges anti-rotation trunk control while the supporting shoulder, chest, and triceps stabilize the body.
  5. Move more slowly rather than chasing repetitions.
  6. Narrowing the feet increases the balance demand; widening them or elevating the hands reduces it, while a static plank is appropriate if you cannot maintain a stable body line.
