Machine Linear Row — back compound exercise in the LIFTAG library

Machine Linear Row

Compound · Weight × reps

MUSCLES WORKED

  • PRIMARY
  • SECONDARY

Avoid using a large backward lean or body momentum to move the resistance. The linear row primarily trains the latissimus and mid-back, with the biceps assisting. The guided track keeps the resistance moving along a consistent path. Choose a load and range that allow you to maintain control throughout the movement.

HOW TO DO MACHINE LINEAR ROW

  1. Adjust the seat and foot platform so you are positioned securely, your feet are firmly braced, and you can comfortably reach the handles with your arms extended.
  2. Grip the handles, brace, and pull them along the machine’s track toward your upper abdomen or lower ribs by driving the elbows back.
  3. Keep your torso in a stable, slightly forward-leaning position while allowing the shoulder blades to move naturally.
  4. Pause briefly at the end of the pull, then lower the handles slowly until your arms are extended and your shoulders reach forward under control.
