Broad Jump

Compound · Weight × reps

Land on both feet at the same time, absorbing force through the ankles, knees, and hips with the knees tracking over the toes. The standing broad jump develops horizontal lower-body power and practises deceleration. Use a clear, non-slip landing area, begin with submaximal distances, keep repetitions low and rested, and stop when landing noise, balance, or alignment deteriorates.

HOW TO DO BROAD JUMP

  1. Stand with feet about hip-width apart, swing the arms back, and load the hips and knees quickly.
  2. Drive through the floor, extend the hips, knees, and ankles, and jump forward with both feet.
  3. Hold the landing before resetting; do not immediately stumble into another jump.
