Seated Machine Hip Abduction — glutes isolation exercise in the LIFTAG library

Seated Machine Hip Abduction

Isolation · Weight × reps

The seated hip-abduction machine trains the gluteus medius and minimus and other hip abductors; torso angle and machine design can change the emphasis. Use only a range that avoids hip pinching, keep the feet relaxed on their supports, and do not let the weight stack pull the knees together at the end.

HOW TO DO SEATED MACHINE HIP ABDUCTION

  1. Adjust the seat and thigh pads so the machine’s pivot aligns comfortably with the hips and the knees contact the pads securely.
  2. Sit with pelvis and back supported, brace lightly, and press the thighs outward through hip abduction without bouncing or rolling the pelvis backward.
  3. Pause, then allow the pads inward under control.
