Stationary Lunge

Compound · Weight × reps

This stationary lunge trains the quadriceps and glutes with assistance from the hamstrings and calves while reducing the coordination of repeated stepping. Choose a stance long enough for balance, keep the front knee tracking with the toes, and use light support until each repetition follows the same vertical path.

  1. Take a stable split stance with both feet pointing mostly forward and the rear heel raised.
  2. Keep the pelvis square and lower the body by bending both knees until the rear knee approaches the floor and the front leg reaches a controlled depth.
  3. Press through the front foot and rear forefoot to rise without bringing the feet together.
