Isolation · Weight × reps

MUSCLES WORKED

  • PRIMARY
  • SECONDARY

If the machine allows it, adjust the seat, moving support, and starting range so you can sit securely with your feet firmly supported and the moving support resting comfortably against your upper back. Stop in an upright position or sooner if that feels more comfortable instead of forcing a deep backward lean. The exercise primarily trains the spinal erectors.

HOW TO DO SEATED MACHINE BACK EXTENSION

  1. Grip the handles, brace your core, and extend your trunk smoothly against the resistance from a slightly forward-bent position.
  2. Pause briefly, then return slowly while maintaining control throughout the movement.
  3. Keep your pelvis and feet stable, and do not use momentum or pull on the handles to move the resistance.
