Ring Dip

Compound · Weight × reps

Ring dips train the triceps, chest, shoulders, and trunk while requiring more stabilization than fixed bars; instability is a coordination demand, not automatically a better stimulus. Master ring support and parallel-bar dips first, use foot or band assistance, and keep the rings low over a mat.

HOW TO DO RING DIP

  1. Set two rings at equal height and begin in a stable straight-arm support with the rings close to the hips.
  2. Brace the trunk, keep the forearms controlled, and bend the elbows to lower only as far as the shoulders remain centred and the rings stay manageable.
  3. Press down to return to support, optionally turning the rings slightly outward at the top if you can own that position.
