Lying Windshield Wiper — abs isolation exercise in the LIFTAG library

Lying Windshield Wiper

Isolation · Weight × reps · Time

Stop before the lower back twists beyond control, return through centre, and alternate. Lying windshield wipers train the obliques and other trunk muscles that control rotation, with the hip flexors holding the legs. Bent knees and a smaller arc make the exercise easier to scale than the hanging version. Move slowly, avoid bouncing at the end range, and reduce the lever if the back or hips feel strained.
