Kettlebell Russian Twist — abs isolation exercise in the LIFTAG library

Kettlebell Russian Twist

Isolation · Weight × reps · Time

The weighted Russian twist challenges the obliques and other trunk muscles that control rotation, but a larger arc is not automatically better. Avoid rounding and rapidly swinging the bell. Use a lighter load or an unweighted seated rotation if the lower back feels stressed.

HOW TO DO KETTLEBELL RUSSIAN TWIST

  1. Sit with knees bent and hold a light kettlebell close to the chest by the horns.
  2. Lean back slightly from the hips while maintaining a long spine, brace, and rotate the rib cage and arms together toward one side, then the other.
  3. Keep the pelvis relatively still and move only through a range you can control; the feet may remain planted to make the drill more stable.
