Handstand Hold

Time

The hold develops overhead shoulder and triceps endurance, wrist tolerance, balance, and whole-body alignment. Learn a safe cartwheel or step-down exit, practise wall-facing before relying on a back-to-wall arch, and use a clear padded area. Stop before the elbows soften or head position becomes unsafe.

HOW TO DO HANDSTAND HOLD

  1. Place the hands shoulder-width apart, spread the fingers, and enter a wall-supported or freestanding handstand using a controlled kick-up or wall walk.
  2. Press the floor away through straight elbows, elevate the shoulders, and stack the wrists, shoulders, hips, and feet as closely as the variation allows.
  3. Keep the ribs controlled, glutes engaged, and gaze between the hands.
