Planche Lean

Time

The planche lean develops tolerance and isometric strength in the wrists, anterior shoulders, chest, triceps, and trunk at planche-specific angles. Measure progress by a repeatable lean rather than pain or shaking. Warm the wrists, increase distance slowly, and use parallettes or a reduced lean if floor extension is uncomfortable.

HOW TO DO PLANCHE LEAN

  1. Start in a high plank or on stable parallettes with elbows locked and shoulder blades protracted.
  2. Brace the trunk and glutes, point or shift onto the toes, and move the shoulders gradually beyond the hands while keeping the body rigid.
  3. Hold the farthest position that preserves straight arms, active shoulders, and comfortable wrists, then shift back under control.
