HOW TO DO HANDSTAND KICK-UP
- Begin in a forward lunge with arms overhead.
- Reach the hands to the floor shoulder-width apart, lock the elbows, and drive the rear leg upward while the front leg follows with only enough force to stack the hips above the shoulders.
- Split or join the legs according to the drill, find a brief controlled handstand, then step down one leg at a time or use a practised cartwheel exit.
- The kick-up trains entry timing, wrist loading, overhead shoulder support, and balance rather than maximal power.
- Practise first toward a wall without crashing into it, keep the area clear and padded, and use smaller kicks until you can consistently control both entry and exit.
