Dumbbell Devil Press — shoulders compound exercise in the LIFTAG library

Dumbbell Devil Press

Compound · Weight × reps

Without pausing, hinge at the hips to swing the dumbbells back, then drive the hips forward explosively to snatch both dumbbells off the floor in one continuous motion, finishing with arms locked out overhead and hips and knees fully extended. Avoid rounding the spine on the pickup or muscling the weights up with bent elbows before lockout; step instead of jumping each transition to regress, and add load only once the whole sequence stays fluid and the overhead position locks out cleanly.

HOW TO DO DUMBBELL DEVIL PRESS

  1. Stand with feet shoulder-width apart and a pair of dumbbells on the floor just outside your feet, handles parallel to each other.
  2. Hinge down to grip the dumbbells, jump or step your feet back to a high plank, lower your chest and thighs to the floor, and push back up before jumping the feet forward to stand just outside the dumbbells.
  3. Keep your back flat through the floor phase and let the hip drive power the pull rather than the arms.
