Strong vs Hevy vs LIFTAG.

The comparison people actually type in 2026: Strong, Hevy, and LIFTAG for set logging, free tiers, social features, and gym machine tags.

The short version

Strong is the minimalist. Hevy is the social all-rounder. LIFTAG is the gym-aware logger: same set / rest / PR core, plus NFC and QR tags that open bench, squat, and deadlift from the machine itself.

We built LIFTAG. That is a conflict of interest. Strong still wins on raw logging speed. Hevy still wins on community. Read the rows, not the headline. FitNotes and a paper logbook sit on the workout logger vs tracker page, which is the comparison for people who typed logger.

Three apps in one table means every row is a summary. For the version with quoted, dated store prices and a longer feature grid, take the pair you actually care about: LIFTAG vs Strong or LIFTAG vs Hevy.

When Strong is the right call

You already know your exercises. You do not care about a feed. You want the log to vanish until the next set. Strong has been that app for a decade. Pay Pro if you rotate a lot of routines; otherwise the free tier may be enough.

When Hevy is the right call

You want to follow friends, copy routines, and stay inside one app that feels like a network. Hevy’s free tier is the reason it shows up in every “best free workout tracker” roundup. If that is the job, use Hevy. We said the same thing on the free tracker guide.

When LIFTAG is the right call

You train in a gym, not only a garage, and you are tired of scrolling an exercise list between sets. Tap the NFC tag or scan the QR. The lift, the last load, and the rest timer are the same screen. If your gym is not a partner yet, LIFTAG still logs like Strong — you pick the lift from the library.

Frequently asked questions

For a tagged gym floor, yes — LIFTAG is the only one of the three that opens the exercise from an NFC tap or QR scan. For a social feed, Hevy wins. For the fewest taps on a blank log, Strong still wins. Pick the constraint you actually have.
