Cable Y-Raise — shoulders isolation exercise in the LIFTAG library

Cable Y-Raise

Isolation · Weight × reps

Avoid turning the movement into a backward lean or forcing the hands directly overhead if your shoulders do not allow it. Use a light load and adjust the Y angle or pulley width so the lower trapezius, upper back, and shoulders can coordinate smoothly rather than chasing height.

HOW TO DO CABLE Y-RAISE

  1. Set two low pulleys, take the opposite handles, and stand centered with the cables crossed and arms reaching down in front.
  2. Raise your arms diagonally overhead to form a comfortable Y, allowing the shoulder blades to rotate upward, then lower slowly.
  3. Keep the elbows soft, ribs controlled, and shoulders away from an exaggerated shrug.
